Praxis is a habit and practice tracker built by Matt Peterson. This page describes what data Praxis collects, where it goes, and the choices you have.
Praxis is a fully on-device app. There are no Praxis servers. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to ourselves or to third parties. Everything you record in Praxis stays on your iPhone.
Locally on your phone, Praxis stores:
This data is stored using iOS’s standard local storage (AsyncStorage). It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it via the Data & Storage menu inside the app.
Praxis includes Lumen, an AI coach that answers questions about your practice. Lumen runs entirely on your device using a Llama-family language model.
The model file (~1.9 GB) is downloaded once from Hugging Face the first time you activate Lumen. That download is the only moment any data passes through Hugging Face — and only the model is downloaded; nothing about you, your practices, or your usage is sent.
After the initial download, Lumen processes everything locally on your phone. Your prompts, your data, and Lumen’s responses never leave your device.
When you purchase Praxis (or unlock its features via in-app purchase), Apple handles the transaction. Apple receives your purchase details under their own privacy policy. We receive only aggregate sales reports from Apple and never see your personal payment information.
If Praxis crashes, an anonymized crash report is sent to Sentry, a third-party error-reporting service we use to find and fix bugs. These reports include technical details about what crashed — stack trace, iOS version, device model — but contain no personal information from your practice data, no card or chat content, and nothing that could identify you to us.
Praxis requests permission to send you notifications. This is optional and used only for the daily reminder time you configure. Notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS — they don’t go through any servers (because, again, we don’t have any).
Praxis is not directed at children under 13.
If we change how Praxis handles data, we’ll update this page and bump the effective date above.
